Event Description

It has been a long time since we had a Multicultural Training here in Alberta.   Michael and Barb Rath are the instructors for this training along with John Crier.  The training uses all the information we have learned from past Multicultural Trainings such as “Issues & Isms” (I&I) to create a container that allows for the group to self-identify and start the process of understanding what cultural competency in MKP could look like.  This is a 20 year study and development.

Both Miguel and Barb have led over 20 trainings each.  The very old version of an I&I was a binary model working on Blacks and Whites especially when presented in the States. This is no longer the case as it is now based on a matrix model which addresses multiple levels of otherness.

The training will start Fri evening and continue thru Saturday and Sunday.  It will be held at the Maskwacis College.  More details will be available in the next couple of weeks as well as a PayPal payment page.  This training checks the I&I box for leader track.

 Some training topics will be;

Feelings - Hierarchy of Feelings -  Recognizing that the diversity of how we were taught to feel impacts our ability to work with differences.

Who Am I - Using the Variables Chart to self identify who we are and how we relate to each other (and how it feels).  How were we've been accustomed to behave in the differences

The Pit Falls - How to intentionally break the rules of the game with Alternative Behaviors

Commitments - Conflict Resolution (Intent/ Impact)

Strokes and Acknowledgement

The training is capped at 24 people.  Lodging is not available onsite.  There may be opportunities for billeting.  There are motels within 20min of the training site.  The training cost does include lunch on Sat and Sun.  Please contact Evan Shillabeer for more information.

Early Bird cost of the training is just $125 and can be using the MKP Alberta Personal Growth drop down menu here PayPal Payment Page
